The song Húsavík my hometown was the highlight of Oscar Night for many. Swedish singer Molly Sandén was accompanied by 17 girls from the local children’s choir for her performance at the Húsavík harbor.
The team of Húsavík Cape Hotel was heavily involved in the production, with our manager Orly as the local producer of the performance and Leonardo working on documenting the whole thing behind the scenes. On the Oscar stage, you may also have noticed the piano from Cape Hotel’s bar Jaja Ding Dong, that previous claim to fame was being used to compose one of Iceland’s Eurovision entries. And on the piano was our very own Rafnar, a longtime member of our team, now living in Reykjavík.
All the elements were in place for this performance and to our team’s much enjoyment, even the Northern Lights showed up. What a magical night, one that we will never forget.
Even though our hometown song did not take home the golden statuette, we are grateful and proud to have been able to show the whole world our tiny little town.
